Enrolment

Welcome to Ormond School,

We would love to have your child join us as a student, and welcome your entire family into our vibrant Ormond School community.

The enrollment process is incredibly important to us. We want your child's transition to school to be a positive experience that ensures they feel safe, comfortable, and excited about starting their new educational journey.

Step 1: Connect & Enrol

The first step is connecting with us and sharing your intention to enrol. You can collect enrolment forms directly from our school office, or you can complete the process online by clicking the button below:

Step 2: Meet the Principal

After submitting your forms, you will meet with our Principal, who will take you on a tour of our school, answer any questions you may have, and get to know you and your child. We believe strong relationships are the foundation of a great education, making this a valuable step in our process.

Step 3: Cohort Entry

We encourage cohort entry at Ormond School, which our Principal will explain in more detail when you meet. This means your child will start school at one of two specified dates—either at the start of a term or mid-term. There are numerous positive outcomes associated with the cohort entry approach, and we feel it is the absolute best way to ensure your child feels supported while facilitating a strong sense of belonging.

Step 4: School Visits

To ensure a smooth transition, your child will participate in three school visits spread across three weeks prior to their cohort start date. These visits are designed to build their confidence, help them get to know the school layout, and allow them to connect with their new teacher and classmates.

Exploring Your Options?

If you are still deciding and would like to find out a bit more about what makes Ormond School such an amazing place to be, you are more than welcome to connect with us to explore the school and chat with our Principal before making your final decision.

Please Note (Enrolment Scheme): At times of high roll growth, we may have to enact our enrolment scheme to manage our school numbers. We have attached the details of this scheme below for your reference. The enactment of this scheme will be at the discretion of the Principal and the Board of Trustees.

We look forward to meeting you, your family, and your child!

Introducing Koka Sophie.

Kia ora koutou and welcome to Kōwhai, the New Entrant / Year 1 classroom at Ormond School. My name is Sophie Garbett, and I am really excited to be part of your child’s initial learning journey.

I find the children's enthusiasm about the world around them—and their desire to play and learn at this age—absolutely contagious. I love seeing them grow and progress during their first year at school.

To ensure the right support and environment for your child, I believe in building a strong partnership between the child, school, and whānau. Please keep in touch regarding your child’s learning and development; a strong relationship is extremely important, especially across this first year.

I can be contacted at school on (06) 862 5725, via email at sophie@ormond.school.nz, or in person before or after school. I look forward to working alongside your child and your family.
